FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: claimed invention relates to method of obtaining derivatives of 8-thieno[2,3-b]indole of general formula I and can be used for obtaining biologically active substances. Method is characterised by the fact that derivatives of 2-alkyl-5-(2-isothiocyanoaryl)furanes are mixed in 1,2-dichloroethane in presence of aluminium chloride with molar ratio of initial substance and aluminium chloride 1:1÷1:2 at temperature from room temperature to temperature of 1,2-dichloroethane boiling for from 30 min to 48 hours.

EFFECT: extension of series of potentially biologically active derivatives of the said agent.
