FIELD: metallurgy industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to metallurgy industry, and namely to steel manufacture. Flux consists of red clay containing a mixture of aluminium, iron and silicon oxides at the following component ratio, wt %: aluminium oxide - 12 to 27, iron oxides (FeO+Fe2O3) - 2.5 to 15; silicon oxide - 43 to 74; magnesium oxide - 0.7 to 7.3; calcium oxide - 0.5 to 7.7; alkaline-earth metals oxides (Na2O, K2O) - 1.4 to 8.7; and impurities of other minerals - 0.9 to 5.6.
EFFECT: providing the possibility of liquefying a slag-forming mixture without reducing melting process quality, and wide use in steel industry.
