FIELD: metallurgy industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to metallurgy industry, and namely to steel making. Flux material consists of magnesian flux with magnesium oxide content of at least 20%, and slag induction component. Red clay containing a mixture of aluminium, iron, silicon, magnesium and calcium oxides at the following component ratio, wt %, is used as slag induction component: aluminium oxide - 12 to 27, iron oxides (FeO+Fe2O3) - 2.5 to 15, silicon oxide - 43 to 74, magnesium oxide - 0.7 to 7.3, calcium oxide - 0.5 to 7.7, alkaline metals oxides (Na2O, K2O) - 1.4 to 8.7, and impurities of other minerals - 0.9 to 5.6. At that relation between red clay and magnesian flux, wt %, is as follows: red clay - 10 to 40, and flux - the rest.
EFFECT: providing the possibility of controlling melting point of slag-forming mixture with simultaneous minimisation of converter wall lining damage, and enlarging the number of slag-forming means for steel industry.
