SUBSTANCE: invention refers to communication engineering and can be used for upperlink transmission rate control in mobile communication system, wherein functions of medium access control (MAC) sublayer, implemented on base station, are capable to control transmission rate of user data. In method of transmission rate control, receiving power of dedicated physical channel (DPCH) transmitted from mobile station is measured at base communication station. Herewith at base communication station, transmitted data block size is extracted for upperlink user data from the Extended dedicated physical channel (E-DPCCH), thus deriving ratio of transmission power E-DPDCH to DPCH which corresponds to extracted transmitted data block size. E-DPDCH receiving power is calculated from measured receiving power and derived ration of transmission power. Relative user data upperlink transmission rate is calculated from calculated receiving power. Relative E-RGCH mobile station transmission rate is specified. And transmission rate of mobile station is controlled considering specified relative transmission rate.
EFFECT: higher measurement accuracy of E-DPDCH receiving power.
