FIELD: physics, measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to instrument engineering and can be used for the aircraft altitude formation. To achieve the result an elevation database is saved. The aircraft current position coordinates are defined with the aid of a navigation system. Current terrain altitude is defined with the usage of the elevation database and the aircraft current position coordinates. A barometric altitude and altitude in respect to the ground surface are measured. A satellite altitude is measured with the help of the navigation system satellite channel. Calculated value of absolute physical height is defined by summing up the current terrain altitude and altitude in respect to the ground surface.
EFFECT: functionality expansion.
