FIELD: physics, measurement.
SUBSTANCE: application: for detection of surface defects, in particular cracks, chips and similar, on mill roller. Investigated roller (2) is controlled in installation position, at that generated transverse ultrasonic waves (4a) with frequency of 0.5-2 MHz order are supplied to one roller end (2c), and received on the other roller end (2d), at that in process of measurement transmitter (5) of ultrasonic waves and receiver (6) of ultrasonic waves for the time of control are tightly pressed to roller surface (2e), at that ultrasonic waves (4) from piezoelectric cell (33a) via core (27) from transparent plastic and adjacent silicone filler (32) arrive to cylindrical contact body (17) from steel, which is pressed to roller surface (2e) from the outside, at the edge (2f) of roller barrel.
EFFECT: provision of optimal conditions that make it possible to detect quite minor defects at sufficient depth of article, to exclude interference in operation of installed guides for rolled material, from the side of instruments realising control, and also provision of even transmission of ultrasonic waves to controlled article.
