SUBSTANCE: invention deals with non-rewritable optical disk (such as Blue-ray Disc Write Once/BD-WO) as well as a method and device enabling control of the defect area of the non-rewritable optical disk. The method proposed envisages scan for defect areas within the medium data area after data recording in the data area in the course of data recording operation; in case there are defect areas detected the data to have been recorded therein are copied into another user data area with the defect management information related to the defect area recorded into at least one defect management area.
EFFECT: efficient control of non-rewritable optical disk defect areas.
