SUBSTANCE: retractable screeding device is designed for a screeding unit of the automotive paving vehicle that includes the main screeding device. The retractable screeding device includes two movable base elements connected to the main screeding unit and two vertical travelling drive gears, both of which go between the main screeding device and a separate base element. Each vertical traveling drive gear provides linear displacement of the connected base element against the main screeding device in the opposite vertical directions. The carriage preferably includes a movable inner frame linked to the base elements and a shifting outer frame located around the inner frame and providing a support for the screeding plate. The vertical traveling drive gears provide vertical shifting of the carriage and alternatively vertical turning of the carriage. In addition, the first horizontal traveling drive gear provides the inner frame shifting against two base elements in the opposite horizontal directions, and the second horizontal traveling gear provides the outer frame shifting against the inner frame in the opposite horizontal directions.
