FIELD: physics, control.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to facilities for identification of units or elements mostly used for storage and transportation of spent fuel assemblies and designed for registration by automatic facilities. According to method for identification of cylindrical objects, identification code is applied on ring-shaped section of surface. Code is formed by sequence of marking symbols in the form of simple geometric signs or figures. At that signs or figures are used, which provide for unambiguous automated recognition of their turn angle relative to initial position. Identification code is formed with participation of specified signs or figures oriented along marking line under certain fixed angles. Code is applied onto ring-shaped section of surface evenly and repeatedly at least three times.
EFFECT: minimisation of marking symbol forms number and simplification of their registration.
