FIELD: technological processes, metal working.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of thermal treatment and may be used in machine building enterprises in tool production for manufacture of shearing dies. In order to achieve technical result, mechanical processing of puncheon and matrix billets is carried out with allowance for melting, their volume thermal treatment, then puncheon and matrix are assembled with their front surfaces in single plane with their further fixation and positioning, and laser strengthening of side surfaces of puncheon and matrix is done in single stage by melting of allowances by beam shifting along junction of allowances. After laser strengthening front and side surfaces of puncheon and matrix are exposed to finishing treatment.
EFFECT: higher uniformity of strengthened surface hardness distribution, higher wear resistance of puncheon and matrix, reduction of time and expenses required for strengthening.
