FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises machining of female and male die billets to ensure flashing distance, thermal treatment including bulk quenching and repeated tempering, laser surface hardening and finishing flowed surfaces. In compliance with this invention, tempering is conducted in two steps, first including low-temperature tempering at 180-200°C and curing for 45-60 min performed after bulk quenching, and second including high-temperature tempering at 550-560°C with curing for 1 h is performed after laser hardening. Note here that high-temperature tempering is selected to ensure hardness of hardened layer equal to 9500-10500 MPa.
EFFECT: higher hardness.
