FIELD: machine engineering.
SUBSTANCE: hardening method for a tool of high-speed steel includes volume heat treatment consisting of quenching and low temperature tempering, hardening of the working surfaces of the tool by laser quenching, short-term tempering by heating the tool in a furnace for 3 to 5 minutes at a temperature of 550 to 560°C and finish machining of fused surfaces.
EFFECT: increased wear resistance of high-speed steel and reduced tempering time.
