FIELD: physics, radio.

SUBSTANCE: invention concerns methods of remote detection of standing motor transport. Remote detection involves sequential level measurement of signals reflected from survey area in the absence and in the presence of standing objects, and calculation of difference. Non-zero difference for a time interval exceeding time required for crossing the survey area indicates presence of an object in the area. Thermal emission of sky is used as reflected signal source, and reflected signals are received by radiometry method. Reflected signals are received from two areas of different size on ground surface, the area borders forming sections of directional receiver system patterns by ground surface. Directional patterns have equal orientation against sky, which is the signal source, and common centre. The major pattern is control area for signal level stability determined by thermal sky emission fluctuations, while minor patters matches the survey area.

EFFECT: enhanced safety, eg at railroad crossings, in case of emergency halt of motor transport on rails, and most importantly, at unmanned crossings.
