FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: treatment of leukoencephalitis in children is ensured with introduction of methylprednisolone, intravenous immunoglobulin followed by plasmapheresis. It is combined with intramuscular introduction of interferon-α2 dosed 1 million UNITS within 1-6 months. With aetiology of herpes types 1-2, 3 types, Zovirax is introduced in amount 30-45 mg/kg within 3 intravenous introductions during 10 days, with herpes type 4 Phamvir is introduced in dosage 67.5 mg - 125 mg during 10 days; with herpes types 5, 6 Gancyclovir is introduced in daily dosage 5 mg/kg within 2 intravenous introductions during 10 days. With tick-borne encephalitis detected, Ribavirin is introduced in dosage 10 mg/kg per day within 2-3 intakes during 20 days, while with tick-borne borreliosis, Ceftrizxone is introduced 100 mg/kg per day within 1-2 intravenous introductions during 20 days.
EFFECT: lower lethality, reduced treatment time, reduced percentage of rehospitalisation, higher percentage of children recovered completely without neurologic deviations.
