FIELD: power engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method involves water supply to steam generator housing, water heating, and steam generation. Water is heated by producing low-temperature plasma by way of igniting electric discharge in water between central tubular electrode and steam generator housing, and plasma burning is sustained. Burning temperature is specified and controlled by moving the insulating shell along central tubular electrode. The above shell movement value is determined by value of electrical water conductivity which is measured before water is supplied to steam generator housing. Water is heated and steam is generated in central tubular electrode, and insulating shell is moved along the above electrode by means of the drive piece installed so that it can be moved along steam generator housing cover. Steam generator consists of housing, vapour-moisture separator, and central tubular electrode. The latter is covered with movable insulating shell installed so that it can be simultaneously moved by means of drive piece along central tubular electrode and inside metal tube located in the housing.

EFFECT: invention allows easy and cost-effective obtaining of steam, provides simple and compact steam generator design, and reduces energy consumption.
