FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: relation of durometer indenter fall and rebounding velocities are measured before and after its concussion with surface of the tested metal plate, relation of durometer indenter fall and rebounding velocities are measured before and after its concussion with surface of exemplary standard and hardness of surface of tested metal plate is determined according to the obtained data. As exemplary standard, it is used complete set from, at least, three exemplary plates of various hardness executed from material, having the Young's modulus and ultimate strength, close to the material of the tested metal plate, and thickness equal to thickness of the tested plate. Before measuring of the relation of the durometer indenter fall and rebounding velocities before and after its concussion with surface of exemplary standard rest an exemplary plate on the rigid contour.

EFFECT: increase of hardness determination accuracy.
