SUBSTANCE: initial data are sequentially updated by substitution of initial data unit for one or more substituting recording units. Substituting recording unit includes at least one of initial address field specifying initial recording unit location or of previous address field specifying directly preceding recording unit location. Information about substitution is effectively restored in the system where substitution for logical rewriting (LOW) takes place either in user data area or through reference to address fields in each substituting recording unit.
