FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: limiter of microwave power is designed for protection of noiseless semiconductor amplifiers of microwave receivers against overload in case of its transmitter power propagation to inlet. Limiter of microwave power comprises section of transmission line, parallel to which pin diode is connected, as well as detecting diode circuit, which are connected back-to-back, circuit of detecting diode is connected upstream pin diode at the L distance and contains transistor switch with current limitation, and distance L is defined according to formula where: λ is wave length in transmission line; Z0 is wave resistance of transmission line; l0 is limitation current of transistor switch; PI is maximum inlet power; PT is permissible limit power of transistor switch scattering. Such design solution of power limiter, having all advantages of controlled limiter (low real loss, high performance, required level of limitation, low scattering capacity), preserves its serviceability in de-energized (emergency) condition due to application of some inlet power energy for efficient reflection of excess power.
EFFECT: increased reliability of electronics.
