FIELD: heating.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to contact coolers, namely to mechanical-draft cooling tower design, and can be used in chemical and power industry enterprises to cool recycling water. A mechanical-draft cooling tower comprises a body with a diffuser in the upper part, air inlet ports and a basin in the lower part and a drop catcher as well as a water distribution system and a sprinkler inside. An electric drive of a fan blade wheel is mounted in the upper tower part; at least two parallel beams are fixed in the upper part with two cross beams being fixed between them so that to form a central square opening for the installation of the electric drive of the fan blade wheel above the drop catcher. The electric drive is made as a gear motor placed in the rectangular parallelepiped frame consisting of two sections mounted one on another. Each section consists of four tubular poles jointed by the metal straps welded to them, located in the one plane at an acute angle to each other and rigidly jointed to each other and to the adjacent poles by rectangular gusset plates. The sections are fixed in respect to each other by the flanges welded to poles and interconnected by bolted joints. The lower section has a square base with the gusset plates being welded on its ends and having holes for attaching to the beams forming the square opening. The upper section top is equipped by a support metal plate with a central opening coaxial to the axis of the cooling tower diffuser. A metal flat round flange where the gear motor is hanging is fixed on the support plate; the shaft of the electric drive gear motor of the fan blade wheel is passed through the central opening of the flange. Relation of the height of the frame to its width amounts to 1.4-1.8.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of the mechanical-draft cooling tower operation due to decreasing expenditures on the cooling tower assembly, increasing the quality of the electric drive assembly and simplifying the maintenance of the cooling tower blade fan electric drive.
