FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to chemical industry and can be used particularly in making urea at high-pressure. The pseudo isothermal chemical reactor has several box-shaped heat exchangers with a flat rectangular shape. The heat exchangers are made from two metal sheets laid on each other with a gap between them and joined along their perimetre, forming an inner cavity through which a fluid heat carrier is passed in a defined direction. Between the metal sheets inside the heat exchanger, there are intermediate members, preventing collapsing or bulging of the metal sheets. The intermediate members are in form of metal gauze, stretched metal plates or bars and are welded to the sheets of the heat exchanger at pre-selected points.
EFFECT: reactor can withstand high pressure difference between the reaction zone and the inner cavity of the heat exchanger without deformation or warping.
