FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to nuclear technology, and can be used for packing the spent nuclear fuel. The latter is supplied to a vertical container made from corrosion-resistant metal, and loose fine-grained filler is added to container through upper edge of container end face. Before filler is added to container, neutron absorbing material is added to filler and is mixed till homogeneous mass is obtained.
EFFECT: use of invention excludes the possibility of vapour explosion during packing, probability of cavities in the filler is reduced, neutron absorbing characteristics are assigned to filler, there solved is the problem of improving safety, reliability and economy of packing method of damaged spent nuclear fuel that was kept in water for a long time and the structure whereof contains water.
