The method of monitoring state of a media gateway controller, installed in the media gateway, involves keeping track of inaction time of messages of the media gateway controller using an inaction timer or combining the common timer and separate message reception flag on the media gateway, and sending the media gateway controller a confirmation message, upon reception of which the media gateway controller returns a message, confirming its normal state. After registration on the media gateway controller, the given media gateway triggers the inaction timer or the common timer after receiving a message on successful registration and starts monitoring the state of the media gateway controller.
EFFECT: prevention of the problem of unreliable monitoring the controller.
