FIELD: wireless communication.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to technologies that reveal the behavior of a wireless device after rejecting a renewal request initiated by updating the notification area (RNAU) based on a radio access network (RAN), or after re-selecting a cell during resumption. A method of functioning of a wireless device in a cellular communication system is proposed. The method contains stages at which a request for the resumption of radio resource management (RRC) initiated by RNAU is transmitted to the RAN node. Next, a message from the RAN node about the rejection of the RRC resumption is received, containing the value of the waiting timer, in response to the request to resume the RRC. The method additionally contains stages at which the wait timer is triggered, initiated by the value of the wait timer, and RNAU is sent after the wait timer expires.
EFFECT: ensuring the effective behavior of a wireless device (UE) that is in a suspended state in case of rejection of a renewal request.
