FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to electric arc furnaces, particularly to design features of a sealing ring device. A connecting device for joining neighbouring segments of the sealing ring device has two support sections, joined to each other by an intermediate bridge section, passing through the whole length of the support sections. The support sections at least partially taper-off from each other. The sealing ring device has at least two segments of a sealing ring, made with possibility of linking with each other, forming a sealing ring around an electrode. Each of the segments of the sealing ring has a top end, bottom end, two side ends, inner surface, facing the electrode, and an opposite outer surface. Each segment of the sealing ring has linking elements near the side ends and partially passing between the top and bottom ends. Each linking element is at least partially inclined to the side ends of the segment of the sealing ring.

EFFECT: invention increases air-tightness of the furnace due to maintenance of air-tightness between the sealing ring and contact shoes.
