FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to powder metallurgy, particularly to fabricating items out of composite materials, on base of metallurgical matrix, armoured with SiC. The source work piece is produced by means of filling a mold with silicon carbide powder of various fraction sizes. Further the source work piece is heated and impregnated with melt of matrix metal by immersing the mold into melt applying mechanical pressure onto the mold. Directed crystallisation is performed facilitating temperature gradient on the front of crystallisation by means of cold heating the mold before immersing it into melt at 5-150°C relative to the source work piece.
EFFECT: items fabricated out of composite material do not possess shrinkage porosity, while possess upgraded heat conducting properties.
