FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology and is intended for treatment of glaucoma at terminal stage of disease. Superficial scleral flap with base is cut in subequatorial zone of eyeball. Under flap through sclera, choroid and retina perforation is performed until liquid appears, which is removed in amount up to 0.1-0.5 ml. Flap is placed back in its place and fixed. Method ensures achievement of long and stable reduction of IOP on eyes with glaucoma at terminal stage of disease with accompanying elimination of pain syndrome and cornea edema, preserving eye as organ. Due to formation of drainage opening under scleral flap located subequatorially, liquid drainage is realised from posterior part of vitreous cavity avoiding affected angle of anterior chamber. Presence of superficial flap with base prevents excessive outflow of liquid and formation of pseudocystic cisterns. Localisation of drainage opening in subequatorial zone allows to avoid its blocking with tightened vitreous humor and stop pain syndrome.
EFFECT: ensuring efficient glaucoma treatment at terminal state of disease.
