SUBSTANCE: method of applying insulation coating to a pipeline involves winding of insulating tape of a replaceable roll along helical line, at that, tape with an adhesive is used as insulating tape that is unwound during winding with its adhesive layer in the direction from the pipeline, section of the tape is heated on the adhesive side, the tape is unwound with its adhesive layer in the direction to the pipeline, and when the adhesive layer touches the pipeline surface the distributed load is applied to the tape base, at that, the tape directed with its adhesive layer from the pipeline is passed on the outer side of the rolls relative to the pipeline. Rolls are located in a circumferential direction around the insulated pipeline, at that, the replaceable roll is located parallel to pipeline axis. Invention also refers to insulation coating application point, in which the system of rolls consists of six rolls oriented parallel to pipeline axis and located in a circumferential direction, and a bobbin holder is oriented parallel to pipeline axis.

EFFECT: increasing adhesion of insulation tape coating to metal surface with reinforcing a diffusion barrier.
