Method of applying an insulation coating to the pipeline includes winding the helical line of the insulating tape from the replaceable roll. Use tape with an adhesive as the tape. Next, heat the section of the tape from the side of the adhesive and unfold it with an adhesive towards the surface of the pipeline. At the moment of contact of the adhesive layer with the surface of the pipeline, a distributed load is applied to the base of the tape. In this case, the tape directed by the adhesive layer from the pipeline is passed from the outer side of the pipeline to at least two rolls, placed on a straight line along the belt heater and oriented parallel to the axis of the pipeline. There is also an insulating coating unit on the pipeline, which contains one bobbin holder, a belt heater, a heated adhesive distribution means, and a roll system comprising at least two pressure rollers.

EFFECT: technical result consists in simplifying the maintainability of equipment, the possibility of monitoring all the executive units and mechanisms.
