FIELD: mining.

SUBSTANCE: method of preparing tar-oil - raw material for process of viscosity breaking - consists in vacuum distillation of tar oil producing residue of distillation - tar oil, in withdrawal of tar oil from cube of vacuum column and in heating tar oil in furnace before supply into reaction chamber of viscosity breaking process; further tar oil is held in cube of vacuum column during 3-30 minutes at temperature over 375-400°C; also activating agent is supplied into cube of vacuum column; inert and/or hydrocarbon gases, or any distillate fractions, or black oil heated to temperature of 380-405°C are used as activating agents.

EFFECT: reduced deviations of tar oil viscosity due to control over mode of tar oil heat treatment in cube of vacuum column; also increased thermo-capacity of tar-oil supplied into heating furnace and reduced power costs.
