FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: casing for installation user the earth's surface in a unit of an underground fibre-optic cable network contains a base, side wall, which has an upper edge, and a detachable cover, as well as an inner space for putting cable connections or cable loops and slots inside the said side wall. The slots are open to the said edge and lie opposite each other such that, a cutting tool can pass along a straight line through oppositely lying slots when cutting on the surface of a channel for putting the cable after putting the casing under the surface. In the method of installing an underground cable network under the surface, the location of units in which the said casings are put is defined such that, they are on the same level with the surface or are adjacent to it. Network channels are cut on the surface, which connect the said units and are located on the same line with the said slots for casings. Cables are put into the said channels and casings. Cable connections or loops lie inside the casings.

EFFECT: making casings for protecting elements of a fibre-optic system in units of the system, which enable installation of cables using an inner lining method.
