FIELD: oil and gas production.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to nondestructive check of items and can be implemented for defectoscopy of main lines filled with gas, oil or oil products under pressure. The method consists in connecting a SHF-generator to a pipeline, in utilising the pipeline as a wave conductor for emitted electro-magnetic waves, in locating a flaw with SHF-signal, in displacing a receiver of SHF-signal along the route of the pipeline and in locating the point of the flaw by a maximum value of received SHF-signal; coordinates of the flaw are determined by means of a GPS-receiver.

EFFECT: upgraded accuracy of location of flaw in pipeline.
