FIELD: meteorology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of meteorology and can be used in mountainous area for preliminary warning population about starting mudflow descent and floods resulting from rainstorm. According to the present invention, method of warning about mudflows and floods resulting from rainstorm comprises control over mudflow stream level in its bed using level sensor; composing radio signal in case of reaching danger stream level in its bed with subsequent transmitting radio signal to the alert centres through the radio channel. Mudflow stream threshold sensor is represented by dangling plumb, disposed in the moving mudflow or stormflow, connected to the data radio transmission system. Note that mudflow danger level is determined from the angle of plumb deviation from the vertical. Plumb is represented by flat lath made of waterproofing and noncorroding material, e.g. aluminium, which is placed in the narrow of main bed, whereinto main precipitation flow from the whole water catchment area streams down; and lath is arranged so that its bigger flat surface is placed in the direction to the moving flow in the bed.

EFFECT: enhancing reliability and integrity of information about starting mudflow descent and ensuring timely evacuation of population and movables from danger zone.
