FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises vacuum plasma applying of the multi-layer coating including lower layer consisting of titanium, chromium and iron compounds nitride or carbonitride at their ratio (wt %): - titanium 87.2-88.7, chromium 10.0-11.2, iron 1.3-1.6, intermediate layer consisting of titanium, chromium, molybdenum and iron compound nitride or carbonitride at their ratio (wt %): - titanium 86.6-87.7, chromium 6.8-7.5, molybdenum 4.6-4.8, iron 0.9-1.1, upper layer consisting of titanium, chromium, and molybdenum compound nitride or carbonitride at their ratio (wt %): - titanium 81.5-82.7, chromium 10.4-11.3, molybdenum 6.9-7.2. Three cathodes positioned horizontally in one plane are used. The first cathode is made composite from titanium and iron, the second one is made composite from titanium and molybdenum and is positioned opposite to the first one and the third cathode is made composite from titanium and chromium and is positioned between them.
EFFECT: workability enhancing of the cutting tools.
