SUBSTANCE: invention relates to input devices. The x-y positions of a digital pen can be determined using a calibration parametre for imaging the x-y position of corresponding image centres, captured by the camera of the pen. The calibration parametre can be generated from iterative calculation of calibration parametre evaluations. Input calibration data can be obtained when a user places the tip of the pen into a fixed position on a surface, which can be a carrier with position coding, such as paper, with subsequent rotation of the pen and/or movement of the opposite end of the pen in different directions, for capturing several images, meant for use when generating the calibration parametre.
EFFECT: calibration without need for using complex calibration equipment.
