FIELD: physics; image processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determination of the position of a pen-point when the pen-point moves on a document. The document has a watermark with a labyrinth structure from which encoded information on position is determined. A sequence of images is captured by a camera in the pen. The path of the pen-point is determined by decoding the related labyrinth structure and by comparing the captured images with images of the document. If coordinates of the position of any frame which is related to the line cannot be determined from the decoded m-array, the frames are converted and then compared with the region of the document image. If coordinates of position of at least one frame are determined, coordinates of position of other frames are determined by comparing frames in the neighbouring region.
EFFECT: invention improves processing handwritten annotations to a document.
