FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to quantum electronics, namely to procedure of laser excitation at self-limited transitions of metal atoms and may be used in development of active elements of lasers in vapours of metal halogenides, for instance bromide of copper, magnesium, lead. In suggested method for lasers excitation in vapours of metal halogenides, in discharge channel of gas discharge channel of gas-discharge tube of laser, discharge of capacitance type is excited, which is realised between two electrodes installed coaxially at the ends of gas-discharge tube and are insulated from active medium by means of gas-discharge tube, at that annular metal electrodes are installed on external wall of gas-discharge tube so that distance between electrodes is more than the electrodes width, for generation of longitudinal capacitance discharge. Suggested active element of laser on vapours of metal halogenides comprises gas-discharge tube with at least two electrodes at its ends and discharge channel containing working substance installed at least in one container, having outlet for working substance into discharge channel, at that annular electrodes are installed coaxially on external surface of gas-discharge tube wall and are arranged as closed along circumference.
EFFECT: simple and reliable design of laser active element on vapours of metal halogenides.
