FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to coating austenitic steel, containing iron, carbon and manganese by dipping into molten zinc, containing aluminium, where the bar of iron-carbon-manganese austenitic steel contains (wt %): 0.30 ≤ C ≤ 1.05, 16 ≤ Mn ≤ 26, Si ≤ 1 and Al ≤ 0.050. The method involves thermal processing the bar in a furnace, in which the atmosphere is predominantly reducing with respect to iron, so as to obtain a bar coated on both sides with a continuous undercoating of mixed amorphous oxides of iron and manganese (Fe,Mn)O and a continuous or broken outer layer of crystalline manganese oxide MnO, and deposition of oxide coating with layers on the bar by passing it through a bath for coating the bar with a zinc based coating, where aluminium content in the bath is at least equal to that required for complete reduction of the layer of crystalline manganese oxide MnO and at least partial reduction of the layer of amorphous oxides (Fe,Mn)O so that, a coating is formed on the surface of the bar, which contains three alloyed layers of iron, manganese and zinc and one surface layer of zinc.
EFFECT: coating a bar of steel, containing iron, carbon and manganese, with hot galvanising.
