FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: device comprises substrate, optical wave guide installed on substrate and containing the first shell, in which its core is formed. The first heater is installed above the first shell. The second heater is installed separately from the first heater and is installed above the second shell located on substrate, inside of which core is not formed. In the first version total amount of electric energy supplied to both heaters is substantially maintained as permanent. In the second version for heat insulation between heaters, insulator is introduced, which creates groove between the first and second heaters. In method the first heating of the first shell is realised with the help of the first heater, then the second heating of substrate is realised with the help of the second heater and partially with the help of the first heater by means of heat transfer from optic wave guide to substrate. Substrate material has high heat conductivity that differs from material of the first and second shells, to provide for heat dispersion in the whole substrate. Total amount of electric energy supplied during both stages of heating is maintained substantially constant.

EFFECT: reduced time for stabilisation of optical characteristics during variation of wave length.
