FIELD: nuclear physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear industry, more specifically to devices for decontaminating different equipment with irregular shape with inner cavities, mainly shells and pipes. The washing and decontamination installation comprises a washing chamber, which is open to the atmosphere, and a chamber for washing agent, placed one on top of the other and connected by a pipe, a system for inlet of compressed air with a pneumatic distributor, connected to the top part of the chamber for washing agent. The washing chamber has the size of the washed object with minimum spacing and has a stream distributor at its bottom part. The top part of the chamber for washing agent has a door for loading abrasive material, and the bottom part has nozzles, connected to a water inlet pipe and a door for discharging abrasive material. A gripping device with a centre rod is used to put objects into the washing chamber, forming a minimum gap between the centre rod and the inner cavity of the object being washed.

EFFECT: possibility of decontaminating hollow objects, simpler design of the installation and more efficient washing and decontamination of objects with strong adherence of contaminants, as well as automation of decontamination.
