FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to data transfer systems and, particularly to synchronisation in a wireless broadcasting system, which uses orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM). A transmitter in the wireless broadcasting system with OFDM broadcasts the first time-division multiplexed pilot signal in the first set of sub-bands, accompanied by a second time-division multiplexed pilot signal in a second set of sub-bands in each frame. The sub-bands in each set are selected from a total number N of sub-bands, such that (1) the OFDM symbol for the first time-division multiplexed pilot signal contains at least S1 identical sequences of pilot signal-1 of length L1, and (2) the OFDM symbol for the second time-division multiplexed pilot signal contains at least S2 identical sequences of pilot signal-2 of length L2. The transmitter can also broadcast a frequency-division multiplexed pilot signal. A receiver processes the first time-division multiplexed pilot signal for timing frames and additionally processes the second time-division multiplexed pilot signal for timing symbols.
EFFECT: efficient synchronisation.
