FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of determining flow rate and can be used in hydrology. A thermoanemometre is used to realise this method, consisting of two temperature sensors with the same structural dimensions and different thermal inertia parametres. A thermoanemometre with a spherical directional pattern is used or another with a known directional pattern, symmetrical in the vertical plane. A device for measuring self motion of the thermoanemometre is also used. The sensors and the said device are moved vertically with varying speed. Values of temperature at the outputs of the first and second sensors are recorded in time, simultaneously recording vertical speed values at the output of the device for measuring self-motion. Horizontal flow rate is calculated using a calibrated graph of flow rate versus coefficient of heat exchange of sensors with the medium.
EFFECT: more accurate results.
