FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to non-ferrous metallurgy and can be implemented at preparation of chlorine-magnesium raw material for production of magnesium by electrolysis of melted salts. Chlorine-magnesium raw material is charged into a multi-chamber fluid-bed furnace wherein raw material successively moves through a row of horizontally arranged chambers of the furnace and simultaneously is treated with furnace gases producing dehydrated carnallite. Solid magnesium chlorine is charged into the second chamber of the fluid-bed furnace at weight ratio of solid magnesium chlorine to dehydrated carnallite 1:(10-15). Magnesium chlorine is mixed with dehydrated carnallite to weight contents of water in the mixture not more 20%.
EFFECT: reduced consumption of chlorine-magnesium raw material and consumption of fuel.
