FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention describes a transmission power control (TPC) method and device for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). Direct communication line control information (DCI) is received by a receiver. The DCI includes return communication line scheduling information and TPC information. The transmission power level is determined for the physical channel of the return communication line by a processor. The determined power level is based on at least the loss coefficient in the channel, which is regulated in response to TPC information and losses measured in the channel. The information is then transmitted by a transmitter over the physical channel of the return communication line based on scheduling information and the determined transmission power level.

EFFECT: design of an improved return communication line TPC scheme, which is flexible and adaptive to dynamic parametres of the system, line and channel conditions.
