FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed invention is meant for generating low-temperature nonequilibrium plasma at atmospheric pressure and can be used for making plasmachemical sources, which activate gas medium and surfaces of different materials at atmospheric pressure. The electrode system in the gas discharge chamber contains sectioned anode and cathode for generating static discharge in the cross flow of the gas. Anode sections are in form of thin plates. Cathode sections are in form of thin needles, directed perpendicular the flow and lying in a plane which touches the lower boundaries of the anode sections downstream. Distance between cathode sections is not greater than interelectrode distance.
EFFECT: invention allows for creating a cold (closer to room temperature) plasma jet outside the discharge zone, the length of which depends on type of gas, rate of its flow and discharge power.
