FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control over traction force of locomotive wheels. Proposed method comprises measuring adhesion characteristics of first axle and measuring adhesion characteristics of at least another axle that makes second axle. In includes also using the data specifying second axle adhesion characteristics to generate signal designed to control cumulative slippage and required for controller that drives first axle. It uses also the data on traction force maximisation if second axle traction force approximates to maximum for current conditions on rail to reduce time required for first axle to reach maximum traction force for its conditions on rails.

EFFECT: development of maximum traction force.
