FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relate to methods of producing calcium carbide, which can be used as a plant growth regulator. The method involves preparation of a mixture from coke and shale oil with the following composition, wt %: CaO 37 to 41, Corg 19 to 21, SiO2 7.1 to 9.8, MgO 1.2 to 1.7, Fe2O3 1.6 to 1.9, Al2O3 1.7 to 1.9, S 1.1 to 1.4, CO2 23.8 to 25.6, H2O 0.9 to 1.2, melting the mixture in a furnace, cooling the melt and crushing it. Before preparing the mixture, shale oil is crushed to 5 to 6 mm particles and coke - to 10 to 25 mm particles. Mass ratio of coke to shale oil in the mixture is 1:(11 to 12). The melting process is carried out for 20 minutes at temperature 1900 to 2000°C, and the alloy is crushed to 6 to 20 mm particles.
EFFECT: invention allows for obtaining moisture-resistant calcium carbide with high output, which can be used as a plant growth regulator with prolonged effect, which provides for release of acetylene into the soil for a long period of time.
