FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention allows for forming ultra-short (less than 1 ns) electromagnetic pulses in mono- and bipolar modes using a ferroelectric transmission line. The pulse former contains a nonlinear transmission line and a short-circuited section of a linear transmission line at its output. The nonlinear transmission line is made from ferroelectric material in paraelectric state with deposition of metal electrodes, and the short-circuited section of the linear transmission line has a ferroelectric capacitor. A source of dc bias voltage is connected to the nonlinear line through low-pass filters.
EFFECT: wider range and functional capabilities of ultra-short pulse formers due to design of a ferroelectric based ultra-short pulse former, capable of forming pulses in mono- and bipolar modes.
