FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry. In the analyser, mercury inside a spectral lamp is enriched with a mercury isotope with an even number of neutrons, where the said isotope makes up at least 50% of the total amount of mecury in the spectral lamp. Also the discharge chamber of the spectral lamp is linked with a ballast chamber, volume of which is larger than volume of the discharge chamber, where apparatus for exciting electric discharge, discharge chamber and ballast chamber are made with possibility of exciting discharge in the discharge chamber which does not enter the ballast chamber. Buffer gas inside the spectral lamp contains at least 50% inert gas, atomic nucleus of which has charge of not less than 36.
EFFECT: reduced limit of detecting mercury in a carrier gas and reduced drift.
