FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to neurology, cardiology and ultrasonic diagnostics. For this purpose used is standard TTE, made from apical access to positions of four heart chambers in combination with introduction of contrast via ulnar vein. After intravenous introduction of suspension of air microbubbles obtained by mixing of 9 ml of physiological solution and 1 ml of sterile air, number of bubbles in left parts of heart is registered. Examination is held twice: at rest and at the background of Valsalva's test. Appearance of contrast in left atrium, coming through interatrial septum during first three cardiocycles after filling if right atrium, is considered to be criterion of OOF diagnostics. As minimal OOF value, corresponding in average to 1.5 mm, up to 10 separate bubbles are taken, as small value, corresponding to approximately 2 mm - 10-20 separate bubbles, as temperate, corresponding in average to 2.8 mm - many separate uncountable bubbles, and as large value, corresponding to approximately 3.8 mm, bubbles merging into continuous echocontrast.

EFFECT: method allows to simplify determining size of open oval foramen (OOF) of heart in case of ischemic stroke.
