FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for determining trace concentration of phenol in drinking water, natural water and other objects. The method of voltammetric determination of phenol in analysed solutions involves preliminary electrochemical processing of a solid indicator electrode made from carbon material after and before a series of measurement cycles and during the measurement cycles. The measurement cycles involve electrochemical deposition of phenol at the solid indicator electrode made from carbon material from the analysed solution, which is the analysed substance dissolved in a background electrolyte, electrochemical stripping of previously deposited phenol by varying potential of the indicator electrode, plotting a voltage versus current curve, identification of the phenol peak on the said curve and determination of concentration of phenol in the analysed solution from the value of its peak.

EFFECT: invention allows for cutting on time for analysing the solution, the proposed method also allows for highly accurate determination of trace concentration of phenol in a relatively short time for analysing a sample (4-5 min) without pre-concentration of samples.
